Hi! I was browsing through winter races and I just now came discovered this one in Palo Alto. I would love to do the half marathon to get me out of my winter slump and post-marathon blues, but I normally run the few miles(3-4) of trails I do in regular running shoes. Do you think it's necessary to go out and get trail running shoes if I were to do the half marathon?
Probably not right, because I would only have a few days to break them in.
Thanks.

Regular running shoes are recommended for the ZombieRunner Bay Trail course. It's flat and non-technical...

I am a newbie to this trail running, and whole marathon thing, I am planning to jog/walk (mostly walk) the 1/2 marathon at Golden Gate on Feb. 19th. Will that be OK? I won't get stampeded or told that I am supposed to be running and not walking? A friend at work who does bike marathons said I am supposed to be running....I am just trying to get out there and be more active. Thank you so much, you guys are all really encouraging! ;D

I did the Steep Ravine run this weekend, and I ended up walking a lot of the steep parts... in other words, most of it! But everyone was very encouraging. This was my first trail run, so in addition to the steepness issue, the "trail" part of it was a little disconcerting for me. Just watch where you're going, keep your feet underneath you, and be generous in stepping to the side to let the faster/more agile folks pass you. I had lots of fun out there!
